England won a match shortened by rain and marred by crowd trouble to extend their lead in the series to 3–1 with two to play. During India's innings of 137 in 26 overs Malcolm, chasing a ball towards the boundary, narrowly escaped being hit by a six-inch metal bolt thrown from behind the fence.
