INDIA v WEST INDIES Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1993
At Sharjah, October 22. India won by seven wickets. Toss: India. India had never beaten West Indies batting second in a one-day international, but when Azharuddin asked his opponents to bat they stumbled to 145 all out, and a third successive win put India through to the final. The unlikely instrument of West Indies' downfall was Tendulkar's gentle medium pace. Kapil Dev became the first bowler to collect 200 wickets in limited-overs internationals when he had Benjamin lbw. Though India lost Raman with one run on the board, Sidhu and Manjrekar put them on the right track with 107 for the second wicket. When they were dismissed in quick succession, Tendulkar and Azharuddin raced to victory with more than 12 overs to spare. Man of the Match: S. R. Tendulkar. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
