PAKISTAN v SRI LANKA 1991-92 Wisden CricInfo staff - January 1, 1993
At Karachi, January 13. Pakistan won by 29 runs. Toss: Sri Lanka. Once again the Sri Lankans were overwhelmed, but they had the satisfaction of an exhilarating start to their chase of more than five runs an over. Led by Mahanama, they took 25 runs off the first three overs, and the 100 came up in the 20th. But their charge suffered a setback when Mahanama had to retire with cramp. The rest of the batting crumbled against the pace of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis and the leg-spin of Mushtaq Ahmed. Earlier, Inzamam-ul-Haq opened with an innings of 48 which virtually booked his place in the World Cup squad. Imran Khan's unbeaten 44 off 27 balls, and the 39 runs that came off the last three overs, sealed Sri Lanka's fate. Man of the Match: Imran Khan. © Wisden CricInfo Ltd |
