Ganguly and Sehwag put together a mammoth 196 runs in 26.4 overs
before the partnership was broken as the former spooned a catch
to Chanderpaul at mid-off. But the stand was an exhibition in
clinical hitting, full of delightful strokes from either end. It
was also, by some distance, India's best stand for the first
wicket against the West Indies. Which made it all the more
puzzling that with 100 runs to get in 23 overs and Sehwag all set
to bludgeon those runs down, the crowd started to act up.
