The unbeaten 191-run partnership that Chanderpaul and Samuels shared ensured that the West Indies gained a handy 88-run lead with five wickets in hand when bad light forced play to be abandoned. With two days remaining, it gave the West Indies a realistic chance of salvaging some of their pride by registering a consolation win. Chanderpaul, for one, was upbeat. "I think we have a very good chance from here. I just love batting, I hope to go out and do well again tomorrow," he observed. The Indians better be warned.
