(Bulawayo 5th ODI - 1 Jul 2001)
The target for the West Indies was considerably higher than they would have
bargained for: a competitive 256 at the asking rate of 5.12. But openers
Chris Gayle and Daren Ganga gave them a splendid platform from which to
launch the victory charge, raising 93 for the first wicket. Left hander
Gayle, by far the more aggressive of the two, was especially fluent with
his driving through the off side and proceeded to 76 before miscuing Grant
Flower to be caught on the edge of the circle. At 137/2, Zimbabwe scented
the glimmer of an opening.
