(Colombo 9th ODI - 02 Aug 2001)
After Shewag's dismissal, the level headed pair of Rahul Dravid and Hemang
Badani brought some sanity to the proceedings. Knowing that the required
rate was not alarming and the target eminently achievable the pair went on
to pick off the runs with ease. After getting well set, both Dravid (57 not
out, 76 mins, 56 balls, six fours) and Badani (35 not out, 51 mins, 38 balls,
three fours, two sixes) treated the audience to some exciting strokeplay. The
most important thing however was that they saw India through to the final
to be played against Sri Lanka on August 5. In the 46th over Dravid and
Badani did just that, and the joy is there for all to see.
