In fine style, Shewag tore the New Zealand bowling attack apart.
The Delhi batsman has a reputation of being a clean hitter of the
ball. The key to Shewag's batting is a technique and approach so simple
that the bowlers seldom know what they are doing wrong. On the day, Shewag
did not put a foot wrong till the very ball he was dismissed. Most batsmen
who get off to a start as cracking as this tend to settle down after
reaching the half century mark. The thought never crossed Shewag's mind. An
amazing run that read 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 6, 4 off nine consecutive balls
that Shewag faced set the ground ablaze! Eventually, Shewag was dismissed
for 100 off 79 balls (19 fours, one six) but by then, India were well on the
road to victory.
