(Colombo 9th ODI - 02 Aug 2001)
The Astle-Fleming pair did exceptionally well against Indian spin and
pace alike. Fleming seemed to be in a rich vein of form, striking classical
cover drives and on drives with equal felicity. Astle meanwhile ruled the
areas square of the wicket both on the off and on side. When Fleming (66)
was dismissed, the pair had already put on 138 runs for the second wicket.
New Zealand were well placed at 166/2.
