Mahela Jayawardene is a delight to watch when on song. He is a stylish batsman who makes batting look an art form. He played a masterly knock of 104 off 149 balls with the help of 17 glorious boundaries to rescue Sri Lanka from a virtual disaster. Chaminda Vaas gave Jayawardene good support and they added 43 runs for the seventh wicket. Vaas was the last man to be dismissed after making 42 runs off 64 balls (7 fours) in the Sri Lankan first innings, which came to an end on 274 off 78.3 overs. Zaheer Khan bowled admirably well to pick 3/62. Prasad (2/62), Ganguly (2/52) and Harvinder Singh (2/69) shared the wickets. Harbhajan Singh was used only for just seven overs.
