Skipper Maurice Odumbe and Steve Tikolo added 55 runs for the fourth wicket. Odumbe (24) flicked Lance Klusener straight to Herschelle Gibbs at midwicket and Kenya were 90/4 in 31.3 overs. Against a fiery South African attack, Tikolo stood strong to make an unbeaten 68 off 83 balls with the help of eight boundaries and helped Kenya to reach 159/7 off 50 overs. Martin Suji made 13 and helped Tikolo to add 28 valuable runs for the sixth wicket. Shaun Pollock was the pick of the bowlers with the figures of 10-1-19-2, Ntini too bowled well to finish with 10-3-25-2.
