arriving late. In case the side bowling first comes late after
breaking for lunch, they have to pass the original target score in
the overs allotted to them after deducting the number of overs
lost due to their late arrival.
- In case the side batting first reports late after the break
for lunch hour they will have to bowl the full quota of overs in
the remaining time failing which the penality for slow over rate
clause will be applied.
- If both the teams do not arrive within twenty minutes of the
scheduled start of time both the teams will be awarded zero
points. Any loss of time due to retrieval of balls/changae of
implement or tightening of mat is to be noted by the Umpires and
same shall be made good by extending the scheduled close of play,
provided in the opinion of Umpires light/weather is fit for
play.
2. DRINKS: There shall be only one Drink
interval per session not exceeding 5 minutes.
3. LENGTH OF AN INNINGS: 3.1 In an
uninterrupted Match:
- Each team shall bat for 50 (Six balls) overs unless all out
earlier.
- If the team fielding first fails to bowl 50 overs by the
scheduled time of cessation of the first session, the over in
progress shall be completed and the innings of the team batting
second shall be limited to the same number of overs as the innings
of the team batting first.
- If the team batting first is all out and the last wicket falls
at or after the scheduled time for the interval, the innings of
the team batting second shall be limited to the same number of
overs as the innings of the team batting first (an over in which
the last wicket falls to count as a completed over).
- If the team batting first is dismissed in less than 50 overs,
the team batting second shall be entitled to bat for 50 overs
except as provided in (c) above.
- If the team fielding second fails to bowl 50 overs, or the
number of overs as provided in 3.1 (b) (c) or (d) by the scheduled
cessation of time, the hours of play shall not be extended to
complete the number of overs or a result achieved. Rule 3.3 is
applicable in such cases.
3.2 In matches where is delayed or interrupted on account
of weather and ground conditions:-
- The object should always be to rearrange the number of overs
so that both teams have the opportunity of batting for the same
number of overs (minimum 25 overs each team).
While arriving
the calculations for minimum 25 overs time available, the loss of
time which has been made good if any as per the note to Rule No.1
shall also be taken into consideration. The calculation of the
number of overs to be bowled shall be based on an average rate of
4 minutes per over in the total time available for play within the
scheduled hours of play.
- If the number of overs of the team batting first is reduced, a
fixed time will be specified for cessation of the first session,
and the overs by the scheduled time for the completion of its
innings as calculated by provisions of clause 3.2 (a).
- If the team fielding first fails to bowl the required number
of overs by the scheduled time for cessation of the first session,
the over in progress shall be completed and innings of the team
batting first.
- If the team batting first is all out and the last wicket falls
at or after the scheduled time for the interval, the innings of
the team batting second shall be limited to the same number of
overs as the innings of the team batting first (the over in which
the last wicket falls to count as a completed over). This clause
is subject to note of Rule No.1.
- If the team fielding second fails to bowl the required number
of overs by the scheduled cessation time, the hours of play shall
not be extended until the overs have been bowled or result
achievedsubject to Rule 3.3 (Penalty) is applicable.
- If the innings of the team batting second is delayed or
interrupted and it is not possible for that team to have the
opportunity of batting for the same number of overs as the team
batting first, the overs to be bowled shall be reduced at the rate
of 15 overs per hour for time lost. If the team batting second
does not get a minimum of 25 overs, the match shall be treated as
a 'DRAW'.
- The team batting second shall not bat for a greater number of
overs than the first team unless the latter has been all out in
less than the agreed number of overs or as in 3.2 (f).
- Fractions are to be ignored in all calculations regarding
number of overs.
- In a truncated match, if both the teams do not get the
opportunity of batting for 25 overs, the match is to be played and
the result will be treated as a 'DRAW'.
- In a truncated match, if the match is started on the minimum
overs of 25 each, it will be governed by the rules already
enunciated.
- In the circumstances mentioned, if the team batting second
does not get the opportunity of batting 25 overs, it will be
treated as 'DRAW'.
If the team batting second does not get an
opportunity of batting for the same number of overs as the team
batting first, due to interruption, a target score will be set by
the Umpires based on the number of overs that can be bowled (not
less than 25 overs) with in the time available. Target Score will
be based on the overall run rate per over achieved by the side
batting first. In addition to the above clause (a) to (k)
any rearrangement made in the number of overs will be based on the
total time available (including the time as mentioned in Note Rule
No.1) for play within the scheduled hours of play, so that the time
available is utilised to the maximum extent.
3.3 Penalty for not achieving over rates:
- The run rate for awarding penalty runs or for arriving at a
result or for setting a target score will be calculated on the
basis of the actual number of overs bowled and the runs scored
thereof.
In the event of a team being all out in less than its
full quota of overs, the calculation of its run rate shall be
based on the full quota of overs to which it would have been
entitled and not on the number of overs in which the team was
dismissed. Each team shall bowl a minimum of 15 overs per hour
of play on an average. Penalty for not achieving the over rate of
15 overs per hour will be applicable to both sides, irrespective
of whether a decision has been arrived or not. For each over
bowled short than the agreed number of overs or number of overs as
calculated penalty will be twice the run rate obtained by the
batting side into overs bowled short. The same will be added to
runs of the batting side at the end of each innings. The over
that is started before the scheduled close of time both before
lunch and before close of the match shall be treated as completed
over and for penalty purposes the scheduled closing time before
lunch or before closing of the match shall not be reckoned. Till
the penultimate over, the number of overs bowled short shall be
taken into account for penalty purposes.
- Fractions resulting at the end of the penalty calculations
(including doubling the run rate), will not be ignored unless
relevant to the result.
- Fractions are to be ignored in all calculations regarding the
number of overs. Part of an over bowled will be reckoned as full
over.
- Total runs in each session after the addition of penalty runs
shall be taken into account for arriving at a result.
4. The Pitch, Ground, Weather and Light Condition:
The Umpires shall be the sole Judges in respect of the
above.
5. Declaration:
Declaration is not permitted.
6. New Ball:
There shall be no provision for a second New Ball.
7. The Result:

- A result can be achieved only if both teams have batted at
least 25 overs, unless one team has been all out in less than 25
overs or unless the team batting second scores enough runs to win
in less than 25 overs.
- In the matches in which both teams have had the opportunity of
playing 50 overs each in an uninterrupted match, or a less number
of overs in an interrupted match, the team scoring the higher
number of runs including penalty runs shall be the winner.
If
the scores are equal after adding the penalty runs, the result
shall be a Tie and no account shall be taken of the number of
wickets that have fallen.
- If the team batting second has played for 25 overs or more and
the match is thereafter abandoned due to weather and ground
conditions, the result shall be arrived at on the basis or run
rate calculated as per 3.3.
- In the event of a Tie, the teams have no opportunity to bat
for a minimum of 25 overs or the match is washed out after
starting or abandoned, such match will be treated as a
'DRAW'.
A tie on equal scores irrespective of wickets
lost/overs bowled will be considered as a 'DRAW'.
- In all the cases, penalty runs for number of overs bowled
short if any shall be added before arriving at the result.
KNOCK-OUT MATCHES:
In the case of Knock-out Matches
of one day's duration, if no result has been achieved as baove the
winner shall be the one with better run rate. If run rate is the
same, number of wickets lost shall be taken into account to decide
the winner. If the match still remains undecided, it will be
decided by the spin of a coin by the Umpires at the end of the
match.
NOTE: There cannot be a 'Tie' or 'Draw' in a
Knock-out Match. Winners in such matches will be decided as stated
