RULES

RULES FOR ONE DAY MATCHES

The Matches will be of one day duration and will be played on 50 overs basis.

1.HOURS OF PLAY:

9.45 a.m to 1.05 p.m First Session
1.05 p.m to 1.50 p.m Lunch Session
1.50 p.m to 5.10 p.m Second Session

Lunch will be taken at the end of the first session in normal circumstances. However,if the innings of the side battingfirst comes to an end in the first session prematurely half an hour before Schedule time for Lunch, the match will be continued and the lunch taken at normal time specified. If the innings of the side batting first comes to an end in the first session prematurely for a period less than half an hour the teams will adjourn for lunch and the lunch interval will be 45 minutes from the adjourned time.
When the start of the Match is delayed on account of weather and light conditions or the ground being not fit to start the match on time, there shall be no deduction in the duration of lunch.

NOTES:

  1. In case Team/teams arrive late, both at the start of the match and starting after lunch, the loss of time not exceeding 20 minutes (maximum), (at the rate of 4 minutes per over) will be deducted from the durartion of the team innings of the teams arriving late. In case the side bowling first comes late after breaking for lunch, they have to pass the original target score in the overs allotted to them after deducting the number of overs lost due to their late arrival.
  2. In case the side batting first reports late after the break for lunch hour they will have to bowl the full quota of overs in the remaining time failing which the penality for slow over rate clause will be applied.
  3. If both the teams do not arrive within twenty minutes of the scheduled start of time both the teams will be awarded zero points. Any loss of time due to retrieval of balls/changae of implement or tightening of mat is to be noted by the Umpires and same shall be made good by extending the scheduled close of play, provided in the opinion of Umpires light/weather is fit for play.

2. DRINKS:
There shall be only one Drink interval per session not exceeding 5 minutes.

3. LENGTH OF AN INNINGS:
3.1 In an uninterrupted Match:

  1. Each team shall bat for 50 (Six balls) overs unless all out earlier.
  2. If the team fielding first fails to bowl 50 overs by the scheduled time of cessation of the first session, the over in progress shall be completed and the innings of the team batting second shall be limited to the same number of overs as the innings of the team batting first.
  3. If the team batting first is all out and the last wicket falls at or after the scheduled time for the interval, the innings of the team batting second shall be limited to the same number of overs as the innings of the team batting first (an over in which the last wicket falls to count as a completed over).
  4. If the team batting first is dismissed in less than 50 overs, the team batting second shall be entitled to bat for 50 overs except as provided in (c) above.
  5. If the team fielding second fails to bowl 50 overs, or the number of overs as provided in 3.1 (b) (c) or (d) by the scheduled cessation of time, the hours of play shall not be extended to complete the number of overs or a result achieved. Rule 3.3 is applicable in such cases.

3.2 In matches where is delayed or interrupted on account of weather and ground conditions:-

  1. The object should always be to rearrange the number of overs so that both teams have the opportunity of batting for the same number of overs (minimum 25 overs each team).
    While arriving the calculations for minimum 25 overs time available, the loss of time which has been made good if any as per the note to Rule No.1 shall also be taken into consideration.
    The calculation of the number of overs to be bowled shall be based on an average rate of 4 minutes per over in the total time available for play within the scheduled hours of play.
  2. If the number of overs of the team batting first is reduced, a fixed time will be specified for cessation of the first session, and the overs by the scheduled time for the completion of its innings as calculated by provisions of clause 3.2 (a).
  3. If the team fielding first fails to bowl the required number of overs by the scheduled time for cessation of the first session, the over in progress shall be completed and innings of the team batting first.
  4. If the team batting first is all out and the last wicket falls at or after the scheduled time for the interval, the innings of the team batting second shall be limited to the same number of overs as the innings of the team batting first (the over in which the last wicket falls to count as a completed over). This clause is subject to note of Rule No.1.
  5. If the team fielding second fails to bowl the required number of overs by the scheduled cessation time, the hours of play shall not be extended until the overs have been bowled or result achievedsubject to Rule 3.3 (Penalty) is applicable.
  6. If the innings of the team batting second is delayed or interrupted and it is not possible for that team to have the opportunity of batting for the same number of overs as the team batting first, the overs to be bowled shall be reduced at the rate of 15 overs per hour for time lost. If the team batting second does not get a minimum of 25 overs, the match shall be treated as a 'DRAW'.
  7. The team batting second shall not bat for a greater number of overs than the first team unless the latter has been all out in less than the agreed number of overs or as in 3.2 (f).
  8. Fractions are to be ignored in all calculations regarding number of overs.
  9. In a truncated match, if both the teams do not get the opportunity of batting for 25 overs, the match is to be played and the result will be treated as a 'DRAW'.
  10. In a truncated match, if the match is started on the minimum overs of 25 each, it will be governed by the rules already enunciated.
  11. In the circumstances mentioned, if the team batting second does not get the opportunity of batting 25 overs, it will be treated as 'DRAW'.
    If the team batting second does not get an opportunity of batting for the same number of overs as the team batting first, due to interruption, a target score will be set by the Umpires based on the number of overs that can be bowled (not less than 25 overs) with in the time available. Target Score will be based on the overall run rate per over achieved by the side batting first.
In addition to the above clause (a) to (k) any rearrangement made in the number of overs will be based on the total time available (including the time as mentioned in Note Rule No.1) for play within the scheduled hours of play, so that the time available is utilised to the maximum extent.

3.3 Penalty for not achieving over rates:

  1. The run rate for awarding penalty runs or for arriving at a result or for setting a target score will be calculated on the basis of the actual number of overs bowled and the runs scored thereof.
    In the event of a team being all out in less than its full quota of overs, the calculation of its run rate shall be based on the full quota of overs to which it would have been entitled and not on the number of overs in which the team was dismissed.
    Each team shall bowl a minimum of 15 overs per hour of play on an average. Penalty for not achieving the over rate of 15 overs per hour will be applicable to both sides, irrespective of whether a decision has been arrived or not.
    For each over bowled short than the agreed number of overs or number of overs as calculated penalty will be twice the run rate obtained by the batting side into overs bowled short. The same will be added to runs of the batting side at the end of each innings.
    The over that is started before the scheduled close of time both before lunch and before close of the match shall be treated as completed over and for penalty purposes the scheduled closing time before lunch or before closing of the match shall not be reckoned. Till the penultimate over, the number of overs bowled short shall be taken into account for penalty purposes.
  2. Fractions resulting at the end of the penalty calculations (including doubling the run rate), will not be ignored unless relevant to the result.
  3. Fractions are to be ignored in all calculations regarding the number of overs. Part of an over bowled will be reckoned as full over.
  4. Total runs in each session after the addition of penalty runs shall be taken into account for arriving at a result.

4. The Pitch, Ground, Weather and Light Condition:

    The Umpires shall be the sole Judges in respect of the above.

5. Declaration:

    Declaration is not permitted.

6. New Ball:

    There shall be no provision for a second New Ball.

7. The Result:

    LEAGUE MATCHES:
  1. A result can be achieved only if both teams have batted at least 25 overs, unless one team has been all out in less than 25 overs or unless the team batting second scores enough runs to win in less than 25 overs.
  2. In the matches in which both teams have had the opportunity of playing 50 overs each in an uninterrupted match, or a less number of overs in an interrupted match, the team scoring the higher number of runs including penalty runs shall be the winner.
    If the scores are equal after adding the penalty runs, the result shall be a Tie and no account shall be taken of the number of wickets that have fallen.
  3. If the team batting second has played for 25 overs or more and the match is thereafter abandoned due to weather and ground conditions, the result shall be arrived at on the basis or run rate calculated as per 3.3.
  4. In the event of a Tie, the teams have no opportunity to bat for a minimum of 25 overs or the match is washed out after starting or abandoned, such match will be treated as a 'DRAW'.
    A tie on equal scores irrespective of wickets lost/overs bowled will be considered as a 'DRAW'.
  5. In all the cases, penalty runs for number of overs bowled short if any shall be added before arriving at the result.
    KNOCK-OUT MATCHES:

    In the case of Knock-out Matches of one day's duration, if no result has been achieved as baove the winner shall be the one with better run rate. If run rate is the same, number of wickets lost shall be taken into account to decide the winner. If the match still remains undecided, it will be decided by the spin of a coin by the Umpires at the end of the match.
    NOTE:
    There cannot be a 'Tie' or 'Draw' in a Knock-out Match. Winners in such matches will be decided as stated above.

8. Table of Points:

For a Win : 5 Points
For a Loss : 0 Points
For a 'Draw/Tie' : 2 Points each.

9. Washout:

    If a match is totally washed-out without a ball being bowled on account of ground and weather conditions the match shall be re-fiexed.
