(3rd Test: India v England at Bangalore, 19-23 Dec 2001)
Andrew Flintoff's pace was just too good for Anil Kumble (12), and Harbhajan Singh (8) perished to another outswinger from Matthew Hoggard. Sarandeep Singh (4) was brilliantly run out by Michael Vaughan, and the Indian first innings folded for just 238 runs, giving the visitors a first-innings lead of 98 runs. Hoggard (4/80) and Flintoff (4/50) once again exposed the chinks in the Indian armour. Batting for the second time, England raced to 33 for no loss, but then the low pressure in the Bay of Bengal took over; rain and a damp outfield ensured that no further cricket could take place, and the match had to be called off. Flintoff was named Man of the Match, while Tendulkar was named Man of the Series. India took the Test series 1-0.
