Anil Kumble reached his personal milestone of 300 Test wickets when Matthew Hoggard was given out lbw by umpire AV Jayaparakash. Kumble had toiled hard for long and had to be satisfied with the wicket of the last batsman to make it to 300 wickets. It was a most frustrating experience for Kumble, who struggled to find his rhythm. In the meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh was highly ineffective and Sarandeep Singh claimed 3/54 in his comeback Test. The pick of the bowlers was Javagal Srinath (4/73), bowling with a lot of heart and being later lauded by the English skipper.
