(1st Test: India v England at Mohali, 3-7 Dec 2001)

Trailing by 231 runs, England suffered setbacks relatively early in their second innings. Yohannan removed both openers with short-pitched deliveries. Mark Butcher (18) was caught at mid-wicket by Jacob Martin and Trescothick (42) fell to a brilliant outfield catch by Iqbal Siddiqui at fine leg. Nasser Hussain (18) was cleaned up by Kumble, who went on to finish the match with the figures of 28.4-6-81-6 in the second innings, duly being named the Man of the Match. Only Graham Thorpe (62) put up any kind of resistance against the guiles of Kumble and Harbhajan Singh. England lost their last five wickets for just 39 runs and finished at 235 all out. India knocked off the five runs required for win of just two balls and won the first Test by a whopping ten wickets.
