LEICESTERSHIRE made light of the absence of the injured Chris Lewis and a first ball duck for Darren Maddy to cruise to an emphatic victory over Hampshire at Grace Road.
They bowled out the visitors in 30.3 overs, with all-rounder Jonathan Dakin claiming career-best figures of four for 14 and Vince Wells four for 24.
Put into bat, Leicestershire had slumped to 15 for three in four overs, and with only eight overs left were 128 for six. But wicketkeeper Paul Dixon hit 60 off 52 balls, with six fours and a six, and 46 runs came off the last five overs.
On a pitch always doing enough to encourage the seamers, Hampshire were never in the hunt and Nixon completed an excellent all-round performance by taking four catches behind the wicket.
