Kent (186-4) bt Gloucs (182-7) by 6 wkts

KENT impressively maintained their 100 per cent Sunday record with a comfortable victory at Bristol. Ben Phillips took three for 31 as Gloucestershire's batsmen scratched about, then half-centuries from Trevor Ward and Carl Hooper saw the visitors home with 11 balls to spare.

Ward led the chase for Kent, striking the ball imperiously on the rise and dominating an opening stand of 72 with Matthew Walker. Ward had hit five fours off 53 balls when he was caught at midwicket off Mark Alleyne.

Hooper, who finished unbeaten on 68, faced 79 balls and hit seven fours in typically elegant style. Alan Wells helped in a stand of 64 and, though he and Mark Ealham departed in quick succession, Kent were never troubled.

Earlier, after Tim Hancock had been bowled first ball, Jack Russell, 27 off 52 balls, and Rob Cunliffe, 37 off 83, were restricted by accurate bowling and, despite Alleyne's brisk 37, which included two sixes, Gloucestershire never looked likely to set a testing enough target.
