This is the second of the scheduled games to have been hit by the weather leaving the tourists abysmally short of practice as they prepare for this week's three-day 'mini-test' against the Scots at the Grange, Edinburgh, starting tomorrow.

They did manage a full day's play against a Scottish XI at Aberdeen on Sunday, winning with just over two overs to spare, and can now only hope that the weather holds today so that they can at least get into the nets.

Scotland's selectors have been robbed of John Blain, specially released by Northants for this week's games, and Craig Wright. Blain picked up a side strain during Sunday's match and Wright suffered a recurrence of a back injury while playing for West of Scotland against Stoneywood Dyce on Saturday.

Iain Philip, who scored a century against the tourists on Sunday, is rewarded with a recall to the three-day squad of 12. Alec Davies, Mike Allingham and Douglas Lockhart are also included and Prestwick's left-arm spinner Andy Tennant is given a place alongside fellow spinner Keith Sheridan. Bruce Patterson is unavailable because of work commitments.
