ICC Disciplinary Committee Announcment - McMillan escapes severe penalty
from the Wills International Cup, Dhaka
25 October 1998
New Zealand batsman Craig McMillan narrowly escaped penalty today after an
ICC Official Hearing here in Dhaka this morning. McMillan was accused of
dissent after being given out caught at the wicket by Match Umpire Steve
Bucknor in yesterday's Wills International Cup match against Zimbabwe. Match
Referee Raman Subba Row decided that although there were mitigating factors
relating to whether the appeal was for a stumping or a catch at the wicket,
there had been some degree of unacceptable dissent. However, the only penalty
imposed was a severe reprimand, and a warning as to future conduct, and
McMillan will not face any suspension.
