Asif visits ICC trophy venues

DHAKA, April 29: Asif Iqbal, the event manager of the nine-nation ICC Trophy to be held here in October, arrived in the capital on a two-day visit yesterday to inspect the host's preparations for the mega event.

The assignment of the former Pakistan captain here is to examine the practice facilities that are being provided in different cities.

Asif Iqbal visited the five practice venues-the BUET ground, Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, Sultana Kamal Women's Sports Complex ground, Kalabagan Club and KBSP ground in Savar. Asif expressed his satisfaction with the existing facilities in three venues - BUET ground, Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium and Sultan Kamal Women's Sports Complex.

He called on the State Minister for Youth and Sports Obaidul Quader at the National Sports Council and discussed measures for further improvement of other grounds.

The State Minister assured Asif of ensuring proper practice facilities and security measures for the guests. They also discussed the security aspects, media service and lighting facilities at the Dhaka Stadium.
