ICC names Dhaka's Wills Committee

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Bangladesh Cricket Board president Saber Hossain Chowdhury in the five-member Organising Committee for the forthcoming ICC knock-out Wills International Cup to be held at the Dhaka Stadium next October. All the nine Test playing nations will take part in the tournament.This was disclosed on Tuesday evening at the Dhaka Stadium by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president and Deputy Minister for Shipping Saber Hossain Chowdhury immediately after the first meeting of the just- elected BCB Executive Committee.

Chaired by ICC president Jagmohan Dalmya, the committee also includes the ICC executive secretary Dave Richardson, the chairman of the ICC financial committee Ehsan Mani, and the managing director of United Cricket Board of South Africa Dr. Ali Bacher.

Syed Ashraful Haque, the general secretary of BCB, will be the Co-ordinator of the tournament while former Pakistan captain Asif Iqbal will act as Event Manager during the 10-day long gala event.

Meanwhile, the board formed a ten-member preparatory committee for the Wills International Cup headed by Saber Hossain Chowdhury. Syed Ashraful Haque will be the member-secretary of the committee which also includes the five vice-presidents, the two-joint-secretaries and the treasurer of the board.

The BCB meeting on Tuesday also decided to hold a colourful closing ceremony on completion of the Wills International Cup. Fireworks will be brought from Singapore and India in this regard. It also formed a Grounds Committee with BCB members Enayet Hossain Siraj as Chairman and Alam Chowdhury as Secretary.
