But only if it is up to standard

The West Indies Cricket Board yesterday announced that one of the Test matches during next year's home series against Australia will be played at Sabina Park once the pitch is up to standard.

According to the Board's release, the second Test will be played at Sabina Park from March 13 to 17 pending inspection and match testing of the pitch which is now being re-layed.

The first Test between the West Indies and England was abandoned last January after the umpires, S. Venkataraghavan of India and Steve Bucknor of Jamaica, ruled that the Sabina Park pitch was dangerous and unfit for play.

The Board also announced that Grenada will host its first one-day international on April 14 - providing the pitch at the new Queen's Park facility passes inspection and testing in local trial matches.

The Australians, who will oppose the West Indies in four Test matches and seven one-day internationals, will arrive in the Caribbean on February 17, with the first Test scheduled for Queen's Park Oval from March 5 to 9, and the first one-day international for St. Vincent on April 11.

The itinerary:

February 22-24 - three-day game at the Antigua Recreation Ground, Antigua; February 27-March 2 - four-day game at Guaracara Park, Trinidad and Tobago; March 5-9 - first Test at Queen's Park Oval, Trinidad and Tobago; March 13-17 - second Test at Sabina Park; March 20-24 - four-day game at Kensington Oval, Barbados; March 26-30 third Test at Kensington Oval; April 3-7 - fourth Test at the Antigua Recreation Ground.
