In reply to the Joes 249 for 9 in 50 overs, the Peterites reached the target for the loss of three wickets in 41.5 overs.
Warnapura picked up the threads which he left behind last week (159) in the-two day match and simply hammered the Josephian attack into all corners of the stadium and at times the Josephian fielders looked mere spectators when Warnapura was in full cry. He had a dozen of boundaries and a six in his 122 balls stay at the wicket.
The Peterite skipper strode into the crease at a crucial moment when they required precisely five runs per over to win and were 50 for 2 in the 10th over. He added 66 runs with Angelo Perera before he was run out and the Peterites were 116 for 3. But with Mahesh Perera (36 n.o) batting with a runner, the pair fashioned a fascinating Peterite win with an unbroken stand of 134 runs for the fourth wicket.
The Josephian bowlers were unable to stop the surge of runs from Warnapura's bat which came at a rapid pace. His 50 came off 69 balls with four boundaries and his 100 came off a cover drive off Roshan de Silva with nine fours facing 113 balls.
The Joes who elected to bat first too sccored at a brisk rate. Their openers Johannes Jayasuriya and Ian Daniel put on 73 runs for the first wicket in 13 overs. Daniel struck 54 off 59 balls with seven fours and a six. It was medium pacer Roshan de Silva's 51 off 48 balls with a six and four boundaries that really helped the Joes to their score of 249.
