The many 'firsts' of Niroshan Bandaratilake
- First player from Thurstan College to play Test cricket
- Took a wicket in first over in Test cricket (M. J. Horne at
R. Premadasa Stadium).
- Took first wicket for Sri Lanka in each of New Zealand's four
innings in the series (M. J. Horne - 1st inns, B. A. Young - 2nd inns
at R. Premadasa Stadium), (M. J. Horne - in both innings at Galle Intl
Stadium).
- Took wicket in first over in each of the first two Tests (M. J.
Horne - 5th ball at R. Premadasa Stadium) and (M. J. Horne - 1st ball
at Galle Intl Stadium).
- Took a wicket in first ball after tea break (B. A. Young in 2nd
innings at Galle Intl Stadium).
Mahela Jayewardene v New Zealand
Sri Lanka's new No. 3 batsman Mahela Jayawardene has been in prolific
form against the New Zealand tourists. In the four matches he has
played against them so far on the tour, Jayewardene has aggregated 418
runs for an average of 69.66.
