Sunday League R19 Review, 10 September 1995
The rain deprived Warwickshire of a likely victory after some
niggardly bowling and fine out-cricket had helped reduce Der-
byshire to 81 for five from 25 overs at Edgbaston. Only Kim
Barnett, with an unbeaten 37 off 65 balls, held firm.
Derbyshire struggled against an excellent spell from Michael
Bell, who took two for 19. Trevor Penney, meanwhile, collected
another run-out victim when defeating Adrian Rollins.
Tom Moody and Tim Curtis both passed notable batting milestones
on an otherwise frustrating day for title contenders Wor-
cestershire at Northampton.
The visitors, put into bat by Northamptonshire`s Rob Bailey, had
moved briskly to 118 for one from 22.1 overs when rain stopped
play for the second time and no further cricket was possible
leaving the sides to collect two points each for the abandoned
match.
Moody (56) and Curtis (41no) shared a stand of 84 in 17 overs,
completing 3,000 and 6,000 runs in the competition respectively
for Worcestershire.
Heavy rain washed out the four other matches at Cardiff, Bristol,
Uxbridge and Southampton.
