Randall denied glory

Bridge ended on a losing note with the former England Test
player making only three runs in a 160- run defeat by Warwick-
shire.
Warwickshire built up a commanding 276 for 9, thanks to a
fourth-wicket stand of 95 in 12 overs between Asif Din and Paul
Smith. Mickey Bell, the Warwickshire seamer, then produced his
best one-day figures of 5 for 21 to help dismiss Nottinghamshire
for 116.

third place behind Glamorgan and Kent - their highest finish in
24 years of Sunday League cricket.
At Old Trafford, Rob Bailey (93) and Russell Warren (56) helped
Northamptonshire make history when they beat Lancashire for the
first time there in a limited overs match. The only century of
the day came from John Stephenson, whose unbeaten 102 set up
