DURHAM v SOMERSET: Hartlepool
Durham finished the Sunday League season with their sixth succes-

overs to spare. Victory was never in doubt once Wayne Larkins

to 164 7. After being put in the visitors were unable to come
to terms with the slow pitch Giles White top scoring with 40.

NOTTS v WARKS: Trent Bridge
Seamer Mickey Bell produced one day best figures of 5 21 to ruin
Derek Randall's farewell party in the Trent Bridge clash. Bell

Leicestershire to a 14 run win over Derbyshire. Smith hit 11
fours and a six sharing a seventh wicket stand of 112 in 19
overs with Gordon Parsons rescuing the home team from a rocky
134 6. He and Parsons hammered 75 off the final 10 overs with

Surrey beat Yorkshire by five wickets to clinch third place
their highest Sunday finish for 24 years. After being put in the

ing 99 run victory over Hants. Stephenson hit an unbeaten 148
ball 102 including an opening stand of 128 with Paul Prichard
(71) as Essex reached a commanding 287 4. Hampshire were never
seriously in the hunt subsiding to 188 all out with England spin
reject Peter Such grabbing 5 33 as Essex cruised home.

WORCS v MIDDX: Worcester
Mike Gatting was a relaxed spectator as Middlesex wound up their
Sunday League campaign with a six wicket victory over Wor-
cestershire at New Road. He handed over the captaincy to John
Carr and was not called on to bat as Carr hit an unbeaten 38 to

Randall denied glory
While Viv Richards signed off in style at Canterbury, Derek
Randall's final Sunday League game for Nottinghamshire at Trent
Bridge ended on a losing note with the former England Test
player making only three runs in a 160- run defeat by Warwick-
shire.
Warwickshire built up a commanding 276 for 9, thanks to a
fourth-wicket stand of 95 in 12 overs between Asif Din and Paul
Smith. Mickey Bell, the Warwickshire seamer, then produced his
best one-day figures of 5 for 21 to help dismiss Nottinghamshire
for 116.
Surrey beat Yorkshire by five wickets at The Oval to finish in
third place behind Glamorgan and Kent - their highest finish in
24 years of Sunday League cricket.
At Old Trafford, Rob Bailey (93) and Russell Warren (56) helped
Northamptonshire make history when they beat Lancashire for the
first time there in a limited overs match. The only century of
the day came from John Stephenson, whose unbeaten 102 set up
Essex's 99-run victory over Hampshire.
