AXA Equity & Law League DERBY: Derbys v Lancashire

Lancashire claimed an important win over Benson and Hedges Cup
final opponents Derbyshire with a crushing 161 run triumph.

Derbyshire self destructed to be shot out for 73 in less than 27
overs after Mike Atherton (105) had top scored in the visitors'
234-6.

The hosts' total was the lowest Sunday League score against
Lancashire. Phil DeFreitas chipped in with 4 16.

AXA Equity & Law League LORD'S: Middlesex v Surrey

Surrey's Bicknell brothers joined forces to help their side to
an easy seven wicket victory.

Paceman Martin Bicknell got rid of Desmond Haynes and Mike
Gatting as the hosts struggled to 172 6 off 49 overs Paul Weekes
(66no) top scoring.

Darren Bicknell guided Surrey home with the bat  scoring 65 in
his 120 ball stay. Alistair Brown hit a rapid 54 off just 63
deliveries.

AXA Equity & Law League LUTON: Northants v Somerset

Mal Loye celebrated his promotion to Sunday League opener with
a dazzling 122   his maiden century in the contest
as Northants won by 17 runs.

Loye and Rob Bailey (72) shared a second wicket stand of 182 in
34 overs as the hosts  sent in by Chris Tavare totalled 263 7.

Pacemen Curtly Ambrose (3 30) and Paul Taylor (3 40) then helped
Northants dismiss Somerset for 246.

AXA Equity & Law League ILFORD: Essex v Warwickshire

Half centuries from Andy Moles and Dominic Ostler laid the
foundation for Warwickshire's 46 run triumph.

Ostler struck 10 boundaries in his 69 before being run out and
Moles compiled 66 as the pair added 107 for the second wicket
Warwicks closing on 253 9.

Essex (207) were never in with a shout taking 18 overs to post
the 50  though opener John Stephenson battled bravely for 90
before falling in the last over.

AXA Equity & Law League LEICESTER: Leics v Gloucs

West Indian Winston Benjamin hit a fine half century then
snapped up 4 35 as Leics recorded a 31 run home success at Grace
Road.

The hosts were toiling on 66 5 when Benjamin (55) and Laurie
Potter (45) added 85 in 14 overs as their innings ended on 214
for 8.

Benjamin then took Gloucs's first three wickets in his opening
six overs for 18 runs as they were dismissed for 183.

AXA Equity & Law League HEADINGLEY: Yorkshire v Kent

Trevor Ward hit 10 boundaries in a dashing 49 off 52 balls as
Kent squeezed home by eight runs to stay top of the table.

Off spinner Jeremy Batty with 3 29 was Yorkshire's best bowler
as Kent knocked up 200 9 on a difficult batting track.

Martyn Moxon hit a six and four fours in his 40 and though
Ashley Metcalfe (45) and Richard Blakey (41no) added a brisk 68
Yorks ended on 192 7.

AXA Equity & Law League SWANSEA: Glamorgan v Notts

An unbroken eighth wicket partnership of 53 between Matthew
Maynard and Colin Metson steered Glamorgan to a three wicket win
after a bad start.

Glamorgan struggled to 98 5 in the 27th over before Maynard
(72no) and Metson (24no) saw them home to 211 7.

Wicket keeper Metson had six victims as he equalled the county's
record for the number of dismissals in one day games.  Chris
Cairns hit 53 in Notts' 210.

AXA Equity & Law League STOCKTON: Durham v Worcs

Durham pulled off a thrilling five run win after losing Ian
Botham to the first ball of the match.

But Graeme Fowler (52)  back from a four week lay off  and Paul
Parker (72) added 105 for the second wicket as the hosts reached
232 7.

Neal Radford (70) put Worcs on the way and with three overs left
they needed 20 but Steve Rhodes' run out signalled a collapse
and they ended on 227 9.
