TOUR IS LIKELY TO END EARLY
The New Zealand Cricket Council are to decide today whether
or not to end their country`s tour of Sri Lanka, in the light of
the present communal unrest and in particular, the bomb explosion
here on Tuesday which killed over a hundred people.
Ken Deas, the New Zealand team manager, said players were divided
yesterday about whether to go to Kandy for the Second Test
Match, which is due to start tomorrow.
The tour, which started on April 9 is scheduled to take in
three Tests and four one-day internationals before ending on May
16.
Last winter, England B had an up-country match in Nuwara Eliya
cancelled because of fears that the team might be a target for
attack by Tamil Separatists.
