Warwickshire took second place by virtue of more away wins (6) than Essex (4).
Nottinghamshire took fourth place by virtue of a higher scoring rate (4.691) than Derbyshire (4.238), they both having 4 away wins.

Each team to receive a maximum of 40 overs, with each bowler restricted to 8 overs and the bowler's run-up restricted to 22 yards.
If two or more teams finish in on the same number of points in any of the first four places, the positions will be decided on the most wins, or if still equal, the most away wins, or if still equal the highest average run-rate per over throughout the season. Counties with the same number of points in other than first four places share the position.

Points system:
Win: 4 points
Tie: 2 points
No result: 2 points

Four fielders (plus the bowler and wicket-keeper) must be within the area 30 yards from the wicket for each ball.

1st: 22000 pounds
2nd: 11000 pounds
3rd: 5250 pounds
4th: 2625 pounds
Winer of each match: 275 pounds (shared in the event of a 'no result')

Batting award: 300 pounds was awarded to the batsman hitting the highest score - R.A.Smith of Hampshire with 131.

Bowling award: 300 pounds was awarded to the bowler with best bowling figures - P.W.Jarvis of Yorkshire with 6-27.


The top four teams qualified to play in the Refuge Assurance Cup.

Lancashire lost to Nottinghamshire by five wickets
Worcestershire lost to Essex by 101 runs

Final
Essex beat Nottinghamshire by 5 runs

Prize money
winner: 5500 pounds
losing finalist: 2750 pounds
losing semi-finalists: 1375 pounds each
man of the match in the final: 350 pounds - P.J.Prichard of Essex.
