Gloucestershire took second place by virtue of more away wins (4) than Lancashire (3).

Each team to receive a maximum of 40 overs, with each bowler restricted to 8 overs and the bowler's run-up restricted to 15 yards.
If two or more teams finish in on the same number of points in any of the first four places, the positions will be decided on the most wins, or if still equal, the most away wins, or if still equal the highest average run-rate per over throughout the season. Counties with the same number of points in other than first four places share the position.

Points system:
Win: 4 points
Tie: 2 points
No result: 2 points

Four fielders (plus the bowler and wicket-keeper) must be within the area 30 yards from the wicket for each ball.

Prize Money
1st: 21000 pounds
2nd: 10500 pounds
3rd: 4750 pounds
4th: 2750 pounds
Winer of each match: 275 pounds (shared in the event of a 'no result')

Sixes award: 400 pounds was awarded to the batsman hitting the most sixes in the season - R.J.Shastri of Glamorgan hit 14 to win the prize.

Bowling award: 400 pounds was awarded to the bowler with most 4 wickets in an innings in the season - S.D.Fletcher of Yorkshire achieved the feat on 3 occasions to win the award.


The top four teams qualified to play in the Refuge Assurance Cup.

Semi-Finals
Gloucestershire lost to Lancashire by three wickets
Worcestershire beat Middlesex by seven wickets

Final
Lancashire beat Worcestershire by 52 runs

Prize money
winner: 5000 pounds
losing finalist: 2500 pounds
losing semi-finalists: 1250 pounds each
man of the match in the final: 300 pounds - M.Watkinson of Lancahsire.
man of the match in each of the semi-finals: 150 pounds - P.J.W.Allott of Lancashire and G.A.Hick of Worcestershire.
