Good day, and welcome to CricInfo's live coverage of the second
semi-final of the 2003 World Cup, between India and Kenya at
Kingsmead, Durban.
Australia, of course, beat Sri Lanka in the first semi-final a few
days back, and this match will throw up the side to take the field
against Australia on Sunday in the final clash.
The book-makers will undoubtedly favour India, but Kenya have not
made it this far in the tournament by being easy pushovers, and no
doubt Sourav Ganguly will realise that.
One bad day, at the knock-out level, can see all silverware dreams
washed down the drain, and India will play out of their skins to
avoid even a hint of an upset.
Kenya, as their skipper has pointed out, is under less pressure.
They were hardly expected to make it through to the Super Six, and
everything since then has been a bonus.
That does not mean, of course, that the sole representative of the
host continent will not play to win, and after wins over Sri Lanka
and Zimbabwe, confidence should be the last thing they will lack.
Sourav Ganguly won the toss and, no doubt influenced by horror
stories of the ball having a mind of its own under lights, opted
to bat first.

This semi-final has in fact been under a cloud - no pun intended -
for much of the day, rains pounding surrounding areas and the
outfield remaining damp even late into the afternoon.
The pitch consequently may be a touch damp, which bowlers like
Martin Suji and Peter Ongondo will loook to exploit.
The ball not coming onto the bat will later give bowlers like Asif
Karim and Collins Obuya an edge, although they may find it
difficult to grip the ball.
