World Cup-winning coach donates trophy for women Lynn McConnell - 24 October 2002
CricInfo Women's World Cup-winning coach Mike Shrimpton has donated a memento from the 2000 campaign for competition among women in the Central Districts region. Shrimpton, who played most of his cricket for Central Districts, and who is a life member of the Association donated the presentation bat he received as the World Cup winning coach of the TelstraClear White Ferns for competition in the inter-district women's competition in Central Districts. The competition for the Mike Shrimpton Trophy starts in Palmerston North this weekend. Wellington and Hutt Valley are also taking part in the round-robin series but will not be eligible to qualify for the Trophy. The draw is: Sunday, October 27 at Palmerston North: Wellington v Hawke's Bay, Manawatu v Hutt Valley, Wairarapa v Taranaki. Monday, October 28 at Palmerston North: Wellington v Taranaki, Hawke's Bay v Hutt Valley, Manawatu v Wairarapa. Sunday, December 1: Hutt Valley v Taranaki at Wanganui, Manawatu v Hawke's Bay, Wairarapa v Wellington. Sunday, January 26: Hawke's Bay v Taranaki at Palmerston North, Wellington v Manawatu, Hutt Valley v Wairarapa.
