Last ball thriller sees Canterbury women home by one run Lynn McConnell - 7 January 2002
Canterbury were almost upstaged in their State League match at the Village Green today by lowly-rated Central Districts. Central Districts needed 12 runs from their last over, and three runs from the last ball, to claim a victory. Canterbury captain Paula Flannery made a big decision when continuing to bowl Sarah Burke for the last over. Burke had conceded 10 off her penultimate over and had another eight taken from the first five balls of the last over. However, CD could only take one run off the last ball and Canterbury got home by one run. Canterbury were all out for 191 when batting first. Haidee Tiffen scored 40, Fiona Fraser 44 and Beth McNeill 23. New CLEAR White Fern Aimee Mason had a good return when taking three for 29 for CD while Kelly Sutherland took three for 35 and Melissa Murray two for 39. In CD's reply, Kate Pulford scored 54 while McNeill took two for 20 and Nicola Payne two for 29. © CricInfo
