If anyone knows the qualities of the McLean Park it is Central Districts chief executive Blair Furlong and he is confident runs will be in abundance in Sunday's second National Bank One-Day International between New Zealand and India.

After all the frustrations of a bowler-dominated summer so far, even greater attention has turned to the Napier pitch.

But Furlong was in no doubt of what it offered.

"I always think you need a track that you can cut and hook at the ball. It has plenty of pace and carry and England scored 245 on it last year and it doesn't look any different to that track," he said.

"There is some grass on it but that will brown off tomorrow and the ball will grip so it won't skid. There should be heaps of pace in it."

Furlong was adamant the winning of the toss would not be the be-all and end-all of the game.

Whether Indian star Sachin Tendulkar will play has not been decided yet, but if there is any doubt India are likely to err on the side of caution and not play him with their World Cup plans in mind.

Interest in the match is high with 6000 ticket sales for the game where there is seating for 6700 and Furlong said he would be disappointed if there wasn't a crowd of 10,000 for the game.

He explained the reason for the match not being played as a day-night fixture was due to it being a Sunday which had not been popular for day-night matches due to people having to work the following day.

The game is to start at 12 noon. Some showers are forecast for the morning of the game.
