Buckman receives prestigious honour for work in junior cricket Lynn McConnell - 3 September 2001
Thames Valley cricket identity Warwick Buckman has been awarded the Sir Jack Newman Trophy award from New Zealand Cricket for his work in the sport in his region. Buckman is the chairman of Thames Valley Junior cricket and is a member of the Northern Districts Junior Advisory Board. His association with junior cricket began in the Wairarapa in the early 1970s and continued after his move to Waihi. Buckman became teacher in charge of cricket at Waihi College and delegate to both the Thames Valley Junior Cricket Board and the Thames Valley Cricket Association. A year after being appointed secretary of the JCB, he became its chairman, a position he has held ever since. His work includes the role of treasurer, secretary and co-ordination of age group teams and linking a number of sub-associations into an effective organising body. © CricInfo
