Furlong to captain CD Max team Lynn McConnell - 12 November 2001
Campbell Furlong, now representing Taranaki, will captain the State Central Stags in the State Max tournament to be played at North Harbour Stadium at Albany starting on Friday. Two players new to the Central Districts team have been included in the side, former Otago and Auckland batsman Richard King and Marlborugh batsman John Nelson. The team is: Campbell Furlong (Taranaki - captain), David Kelly (Hawke's Bay), John Nelson (Marlborough), Peter McGlashan (Hawke's Bay), Jamie How (Manawatu), Richard King (Hawke's Bay), Bevan Griggs (Manawatu), Andrew Schwass (Nelson), Ewen Thompson (Wairarapa), Michael Mason (Manawatu), Brent Hefford (Marlborough), Gareth West (Manawatu). The CD selectors, Basil Netten (convener), Dipak Patel and Barry Roberts have also named the teams to play in the Central Districts trials at Palmerston North from November 19-21, after which the State Central Stags side to play Auckland at Eden Park in the first round of the State Championship will be named.
