Loveridge named in CD Super Max side
Lynn McConnell - 24 October 2000

Former international player Greg Loveridge has started his cricket career comeback with his inclusion in the Central Districts Shell Super Max side named today.

Loveridge, a leg-spinner who broke a finger batting before he bowled a ball in his debut Test, has been off the New Zealand first-class scene while studying in England and since returning to New Zealand late last year.

He started playing cricket in Wellington this summer but is transferring to Central Districts (CD) where he first made his name.

The CD side will play two matches in Wellington on October 31-November 1 and will be captained by Jacob Oram.

The side is: Oram, Mark Douglas, David Kelly, Glen Sulzberger, Jamie Lee, Loveridge, Greg Todd, Brendan Diamanti, Andrew Schwass, Gareth West, Ewen Thompson, Martyn Sigley.

Five players new to CD cricket have been included in the side.

Lee, from Manawatu, has been a CD age grade player and is a top-order right-hand batsman for Manawatu.

Todd had an outstanding season at age grade level last year. A right-arm fast-medium bowler, he is a left-hand batsman from Wairarapa.

Marlborough right-arm fast-medium bowler Brendan Diamanti is another product of the CD age programme.

Gareth West is the brother of former CD player Regan West who is now playing his cricket in Wellington. He is a left-arm fast-medium bowler.

Another Wairarapa player Ewen Thompson is a left-arm fast-medium bowler who previously played in Northland.
