Canterbury opts for Super Max specialists Lynn McConnell - 10 October 2000
Canterbury has jumped the gun and is the first of the major associations to announce its team for the upcoming Shell Super Max cricket campaign. Canterbury selection convener Ben Harris announced a squad of 14 to prepare for the Super Max, which starts in Mosgiel with the first of five matches against Otago on October 27. Harris said the selection panel had opted for players they considered to be Max specialists. "We decided not to select players whose techniques and temperaments are more suited to Shell Trophy and as a consequence the likes of Jarrod Englefield, Robbie Frew and Michael Papps will play club cricket," he said. The squad is: Gary Stead (captain), Carl Anderson, Hamish Barton, Shane Bond, Danny Bulman, Ryan Burson, Cleighten Cornelius, Stephen Cunis, Brad Doody, Marcel McKenzie, Darron Reekers, Hayden Shaw, Warren Wisneski, Ben Yock. Matches are to be played on: October 27 at Mosgiel, October 29 at Gore, October 30 at Invercargill, November 3 at Ashburton and November 5 at Westport. © CricInfo
