Improved efforts win public support for Black Caps Lynn McConnell - 3 October 2000
Support for the efforts of New Zealand's cricketers looks to be rising. The public has acknowledged the improved performances of the CLEAR Black Caps last season. New Zealand Cricket (NZC) marketing manager Peter Dwan commented in the NZC annual report that market research was carried out during the winter to determine public perceptions of cricket in New Zealand. "The research finding confirmed that the excellent on and off-field performances by the CLEAR Black Caps over the last two seasons have been matched by an improved public perception of the team. "The general approval rating of the New Zealand team has jumped significantly with the majority of respondents describing the players as 'more consistent', 'gaining in confidence' and 'providing good role models for youngsters.' "It is apparent that the considerable effort and resource invested in enhancing the image and profile of the Black Caps in recent years has paid handsome dividends," Dwan said. © CricInfo
