Wellington's stadium sets new trends for cricket
Lynn McConnell - 3 October 2000
Wellington's WestpacTrust Stadium is a winner as far as New Zealand Cricket is concerned.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) marketing manager Peter Dwan said in NZC's annual report: "The timely completion of the new Wellington Stadium presented NZC with a unique opportunity to capitalise on the desire of Wellingtonians to experience the atmosphere and attractions of their new facility.
"Pre-sales figures for both scheduled one day internationals were outstanding and the sense of anticipation in the city prior to each event was huge. That both one day internationals were interrupted by weather and one was abandoned was a bitter disappointment to NZC and ticket-holders alike.
"Despite this season's frustrations with inclement weather, the Wellington Stadium is a wonderful venue for cricket and NZC looks forward to hosting many exciting and enthralling encounters there in the future."
