Allott confirmed in one-day specialist role for Canterbury Lynn McConnell - 21 November 2000
Canterbury's selectors have decided to meet Geoff Allott's wish that he only be included in the Shell Cup one-day side this year. Still suffering back complaints Allott said when he returned home from New Zealand's one-day series against South Africa earlier this month that he only wanted to play one-day cricket at this stage. Another interesting move announced by convener Ben Harris today is the choice of Michael Papps as the wicketkeeper for the Cup team while Gareth Hopkins will be the wicket-keeper in the Shell Trophy side. The Shell Trophy team is: Gary Stead (captain), Brad Doody, Robbie Frew, Jarrod Englefield, Chris Harris, Aaron Redmond, Michael Papps, Mark Hastings, Gareth Hopkins, Warren Wisneski, Shane Bond, Carl Anderson, Hayden Shaw. The Shell Cup team is: Stead (captain), Doody, Darren Reekers, Geoff Allott, Englefield, Harris, Redmond, Papps, Hastings, Wisneski, Bond, Anderson, Cleighten Cornelius. Unavailable for selection were Ryan Burson, who is still recovering from a knee injury suffered during Shell Super Max and international all-rounder Chris Cairns who is still resting his knee. © CricInfo
