Canterbury looks ahead after Super Max disappointment
Lynn McConnell - 8 November 2000

Canterbury may be out of the Shell Super Max semi-finals but their attention is now firmly on the Cup and Trophy campaigns that lie ahead this summer.

Late runners for selection consideration in the front line will have the next round of club play and a trial match between Metropolitan and Districts on November 18-19 to make their bid.

Selection convener Ben Harris said the team would be named after the trial match.

Harris said: "The level of performance has been pleasing and there is genuine competition for places in these teams."

Black Caps Chris Cairns, Chris Harris and Geoff Allott have not been included in the squad as their availability has yet to be ascertained.

The leg injury suffered by fast bowler Ryan Burson in the Super Max game in Ashburton has ruled him out of the first part of the season.

The squad named yesterday is: Carl Anderson, Hamish Barton, Shane Bond, Stephen Cunis, Cleighten Cornelius, Brad Doody, Jarrod Englefield, Robbie Frew, Harley James, Gareth Hopkins, Mark Hastings, Marcel McKenzie, Michael Papps, Aaron Redmond, Darren Reekers, Hayden Shaw, Gary Stead, Darren Walker, Warren Wisneski, Ben Yock.
