Good news keeps on coming for White Fern O'Leary Lynn McConnell - 26 December 2000
Anna O'Leary, a member of the CLEAR White Ferns World Cup winning team must wonder when her career high points are going to stop. Having played a big part in the New Zealand CricInfo World Cup success in Christchurch on Saturday, she was looking forward to celebrating five years since she and her boyfriend Andrew Smith, of Upper Hutt, had met each other. Smith had other ideas however, and on Christmas Day offered her a marriage proposal which she accepted. "It is all very exciting," she said. Then today she was part of the White Ferns celebration parade around the Basin Reserve at lunchtime. The team was given a standing ovation during their lunchtime walk around the ground which was packed for the Boxing Day Test match against Zimbabwe. "It was a wonderful feeling," O'Leary said, "and so nice to be able to do it at my home ground." © CricInfo
