Public interest forces ground changes Lynn McConnell - 4 December 2000
Increased interest in the India-New Zealand game at the CricInfo Women's World Cup has resulted in ground changes later in the week. The game was originally to have been played on the smaller Lincoln Green on Saturday. But the prospect of a big crowd for the game, which has increased in appeal after India assured itself of a semi-final place as the result off its victories over closest rivals, South Africa and England, has caused organisers to re-schedule the game for the bigger BIL Oval. Tournament organiser Tim Murdoch said the numbers will be bolstered by 150 young women players. Member of the four teams contesting the finals of the national secondary schools Yoplait Cup, starting in Christchurch on Monday, will be guests at the ground while the Canterbury women's youth squad will be having a session also. As a result of the change, the Friday game scheduled between Sri Lanka and South Africa, will be played on Lincoln Green, instead of the BIL Oval as originally planned. © CricInfo
