Hello and welcome to Cricinfo's live coverage of ODI series between
Sri Lanka and India, from Ahmedabad now we move to Rajkot for the
6th match of the series.
India hold an unassailable lead (4-1) with two more matches left in
the series including this one.
Now for the important news - India captain Virender Sehwag has won
the toss and elected to field first, bit of a surprising decision
given the fact that it's an excellent batting track.
Sri Lanka came back from 4-0 to win the 5th match of the series, a
win made easy by the fact that India rested most of their senior
players.
The top order is still struggling and that will be a cause of worry
for the Lankans, and to add to the misery Murali is out of this
game due to a hamstring injury.
Having won the series the Indian team management is continuing with
the rotation policy, Rahul Dravid has been rested and as you know
Virender Sehwag will lead India today - Mohammed Kaif is back in
the team replacing Venugopal Rao.
Tendulkar and Pathan too are back - India go in with five bowlers.
Sri Lanka have made just the one change to the team that played the
previous match, it's actually a forced change, with Murali being
injured Upul Chandana will feature in the starting eleven.
Suresh Raina is the SuperSub for India and for Sri Lanka Farveez
Maharoof holds his place as the SuperSub.
We have been blessed with good weather so far in the series and
today is no exception.

It was a bit of surprise when Sehwag elected to field first and
thinks looked bit dodgy for him when the Lankan openers got off to
a flyer
Sreesanth picked up Jayasuriya in the 8th over of the innings and
from there on the bowler's kept up the pressure.
Spinners did a good job in the middle overs, Kartik started off his
spell with the wicket of Jayawardene and RP Singh bowled like a
champion.
The fielding was exceptional and once again the Lankan batsmen
crumbled under pressure.
197 is the target for India when they return.
It's still a good batting track but the spinners are getting some
purchase out of it - we will have to wait and seen if the Lankan
bowler's can make an impact especially with Murali missing from
the line-up.

It turned out to be another frustrating day at the office for the
Lankans - somehow they will have to regroup and find a winning
formula especially with lot of important series coming up.
Marvan Atapattu - 'We had the best of the wicket - 196 was not
enough to keep the Indians out - no excuse to have lost so many
wickets early on - 240 with two good spinners would have been
competitive'
- To have Murali out of this game was a big miss for us - Murali
is more important for us in Test matches so we will preserve him
for that'.
Sehwag - `We bowled well - fielded well and batted well - good show
from my boys - 'our fast bowlers did a good job and then Karthik
