Hello and welcome to Cricinfo's live coverage of the Videocon Cup
final, glad you could join us, my name is Sajan Nair.
Last time India and New Zealand contested a final was way back in
October 2000, and who could forget Chris Cairns' blistering
century that saw New Zealand recover from 132 for 5 and go on to
win the ICC Knockout trophy
- their first title in International cricket.
Both India and New Zealand are playing good cricket and it's going
to be an evenly matched contest, well at least on paper that is
certainly the case.
Sadly for New Zealand Chris Cairns will miss this big match due to
injury, but Shane Bond, who was rested for last Friday's game
against India will feature in the starting line-up.
As far as India are concerned what will worry them most is the form
of their top order batsmen and the fans will be hoping for a
better performance from the top three today.
Fleming yesterday conceded that the Indian team had started to do
well under pressure, but he was optimistic that the three day
break before the final would work in his side's favour.
"We expect to win the final and it would be a good way to finish
the tour".
and Ganguly had this to say when asked about India's prospects -
"The middle order is doing well. Everyone has scored runs and
looked useful. It is the top order which has to fire".
