Ball-by-Ball Commentary
Match State: Match start scheduled for 14.15 AEDT (03.15 GMT)
Hello and a warm welcome to Cricinfo's live coverage of the second
final of the VB Series.
Day before yesterday Sri Lanka pulled off a stunning 22 runs
victory over the world champions to go one up in the best-of-three
finals.
From Adelaide we now move to Sydney for the second final, It's a
must-win situation for Australia and they will be under pressure
to perform well here.
What was heartening to see was the way Sri Lanka approached the big
game, it was total and complete cricket from the Lankans, they
batted to a plan and put up a decent score on the board,
,bowlers were spot on with the line and length and the fielders
backed them up exceptionally well.
Tillakaratne Dilshan was simply brilliant on the field and he
painted his name all over the Australian batting card, effecting
four of the five run-outs, Sangakkara bagged the man-of-the match
for his brilliant innings of 83.
I'm Sajan Nair, you commentator for the day.

Australia win by 167 runs.
So Australians have bounced back with a thumping victory, Ponting
lead from the front, he came in when Australia were down at 3 for
10 and together with Symonds took the total 247.
Both Ponting and Symonds went on to make hundreds, when Symonds was
finished with the Lankans he was on 151 and the score was 320.
and a fiery half-century from Clarke took Australia to a mammoth
total of 368.
Sri Lanka lost Jayasuriya early, chasing the big total and form
there on it was all down hill for the Lankans.
Jayawardene was looking good, his fifty gave the Lankans a ray of
hope but Hogg picked him, first ball, and from there on it was
just a matter of time.
Arnold and Murali provided some good entertainment for the crowd
with some astonishing hits but it was too little too late.
In the end it took Australia just 36 overs to wrap it up!
So it's 1-1 with just one final to go and that's going to be a
cracker!
Be sure to join us on the 14th of February for the third final -
from me Sajan Nair and the entire team, it's good bye.
