Hello and welcome to Cricinfo's live coverage of the DLF Trophy
2005-06, being held at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
Today's match between Pakistan and India is going to be the first
international match at this venue, Sheikh Zayed Stadium becomes
only the second venue in the United Arab Emirates, after Sharjah,
to host international cricket matches.
Dubbed as the friendship series, it is going to be a two-match
showdown between arch-rivals India and Pakistan,
the proceeds from the first game will be donated to the survivors
of the earthquake that hit parts of Pakistan and northern India
causing wide spread devastation.
There is nothing much to choose between the two teams but India
should start off as favourites after their thumping series win
against England in which they drubbed the visitors 5-1 in the 7-
match series, with one match being washed out due to rain.
Pakistan on the other hand have been playing good cricket over the
last 6 months and they have won four of their last five series,
ironically the one loss in that table was against India early this
year.
Brian Jerling and Rudi Koertzen will be in charge of the
proceedings in the middle, Tyron Wijewardene is the TV umpire and
Roshan Mahanama is the ICC match referee for today's match.
