Good Morning and welcome to the live coverage of the 1st ODI
between India and Pakistan being played at the Nehru Stadium,
Kochi
After a fantastic Test series it's now time to move to the shorter
version of the game, it is going to be a six match series, with
the final match scheduled to be played on the 17th of April at
Delhi.
India will be under pressure to perform well here after the drawn
Test series, Pakistan came back splendidly to level the series
with a 168 runs victory at Bangalore, and they start favorites.
Both the captains have made it clear how important it is to start a
series with a win, it's going to be a fantastic contest, that's
for sure!
News from the middle is that the Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has
won the toss and elected to bat first
India have played here on three occasions, they won against
Australia(97-98) and South Africa(99-2000) but suffered a shock
defeat against Zimbabwe in 2001-02.
Kochi pitch has always been on the batsman's side, In six innings
at this venue, there have been three scores of more than 300 and
the last two games here have been won by the team batting second.
