5th Match: Bangladesh v South Africa at Dhaka, 17 Apr 2003

Ball-by-Ball Commentary

Match State: Match start scheduled for 3pm local time (8am GMT)

Hello, and welcome to CricInfo's live coverage of the penultimate
league match from the TVS Cup in Dhaka, where South Africa take on
Bangladesh in what will be the home side's last match.
Bangladesh have not had a happy time of it in this tournament.
After an indifferent World Cup, they continue to struggle at the
        international level against top-notch sides.
They have gotten better through the tournament, though. After being
bowled out for 76 in the first game, their batsman dominated South
Africa's pace attack for a brief time when the two sides first
        met.
Yesterday, their bowlers created some artificial excitement with a
clutch of wickets, but India never looked like actually losing the
        game.
Bangladesh take the field again today, on a day slightly cooler
than previous ones in this competition. Possible showers are
forecast for later in the day, but they seem unlikely to hit.
South African captain Graeme Smith won the toss and opted to bat.
       Teams:
Bangladesh: Mohammad Ashraful, Mehrab Hossain, Khaled Mahmud

Pollock, Andrew Hall, Paul Adams, Allan Dawson, Makhaya Ntini
0.1 Manjural Islam to Smith, two runs, some drift in with the arm for
Manjural, and the ball is on Smith's pads, clipped away just in
front of square on the legside for a couple
0.2 Manjural Islam to Smith, no run, loud shout for leg before, but the
ball is ju-uu-uust going down leg, but only just. Smith also gets
a slight inside edge onto the pads
0.3 Manjural Islam to Smith, no run, another appeal, but this one
sliding much further down the legside

7.1 Tapash Baisya to Smith, FOUR, Smith continues to look fluent, this

        an easy boundary
7.2 Tapash Baisya to Smith, FOUR, and this one is too full and outside
